Richard Holt BA (Hons) studied Primary Education at Greenwich University and holds Qualified Teacher Status. He worked in a number of schools as a teacher and senior leader prior to becoming a professional genealogist and establishing his own research business, Holt's Family History Research.

Family history has always been a big part of Richard's life having developed a love for research in his early teens. This love influenced the research project for his dissertation which was undertaken at the National Portrait Gallery in London looking at Children's Conversations in a Museum Setting. He has a deep-rooted belief that learning is a life-long endeavour.

Richard is a Member of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA) and currently serves on AGRA's Council as the Associate Representative. He is also an Ambassador for Twitter's #AncestryHour, helping to host the weekly discussions.

Richard is based in Cambridgeshire close to the Norfolk border and regularly researches in London and his home-county of Buckinghamshire. He works with clients from all around the world and has a passion for breaking down family history brick walls.
