The life stories of family members who had same sex relationships can be difficult to trace. It is a process that requires additional skills from the genealogist, and this includes an understanding of the cultural and legal framework those individuals were affected by in their lifetime.
This webinar will equip the family historian with the skills necessary to research LGBT relatives accurately and with sensitivity. The speaker will use examples from her own LGBT historical research to highlight the challenges faced, but also to illustrate the fascinating stories that can be uncovered about those who very often had to live in the shadows of family life, and where they chose to be ‘out and proud’, the consequences of living openly as themselves.
